JES Foundation Repair Volunteers For Habitat for Humanity

JES Foundation Repair (JES) teams are getting their hands dirty with Habitat for Humanity. As part of the companywide Build Together 2023 initiative, over 50 JES employees across several branches will assist in a home build in their local communities by the end of the year.

Groundworks, the parent company of JES, donated funds to Habitat for Humanity International to support long-term stability through safe and affordable housing. This partnership gives 4,400 employees across the country the opportunity to volunteer in 55 communities throughout the year.

 

Richmond

The Richmond team partnered with the Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity to construct a home on June 22. Their efforts supported the construction of a home in the Highland Terrace neighborhood for a family in need. The community service project was featured on WTVR (CBS) Richmond later that evening.

“We believe in getting outside ourselves and taking ownership in our community,” said JES Operations Manager Dre Gooding. “What better way to get out, get a little dirty, have fun, and help out the community?”

 

Baltimore
JES employees in Baltimore teamed up with Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake to assist in a home remodel for a family that will soon occupy the home on Fulton Avenue. Employees spent a full day at the site where they helped install trim throughout the newly renovated row home.

Habitat’s Volunteer Engagement Manager Brandon Jerome was grateful for the team’s help, noting: “It was great having the JES team on site. Everyone was very detail-oriented, and they worked very hard in the heat!”

 

Virginia Beach
On September 21, the South Hampton Roads chapter had JES teammates help with a home construction in Suffolk. Employees participated in a build spanning multiple days for a local Hampton Roads family, specifically helping install siding on the home’s exterior.

Their efforts supported the construction of a home for a mom living with her teenage son, her parents, and their four dogs. She is excited to finally have a space to call her own, where she can decorate to her liking, and no one has to sleep on the couch.

 

Roanoke & Appomattox

In October, Habitat for Humanity in the Roanoke Valley hosted employees from JES’s Roanoke and Appomattox offices for a home build, where they assisted in installing trim and molding and painting.

The community service project was featured on WBDJ (CBS) Roanoke on October 14. The volunteers were extremely grateful for the opportunity and felt it was rewarding to know they were helping a family in their community.
